Iceland 01

Huldis sent me this beautiful postcard from Reykjavik, Iceland on 21 January 2008. Reykjavik is the capital city of Iceland with a population of 117,000. Reykjavik is said the most northern capital city in the world. When I look at the view of Reykjavik in the postcard..... I feel so peaceful....

Norway 01

Ann sent me this wonderful postcard from Norway on 8 June 2000. Showing in the postcard is Bryggen (Wharf in Norwegian) of Bergen. Bryggen is on the UNESCO list of World Cultural Heritage Sites. What a beautiful wharf, and Ann told me that it is a very popular tourist attraction in Norway.

Brazil 01

Conrado sent me this postcard on 30 August 1998. Showing in the postcard is the view of the coastal city Sao Vicente. What a spectacular view of the tremendous wide beach. The economy of Sao Vicente is based on tourism.

Malaysia 01

Ken went to Penang for holiday, and he sent me this postcard from Butterworth, Penang on 27 July 2000. Showing in the postcard is a Ferry. Ferry was the only transportation to connect George Town (in Penang island) to Butterworth (mainland, part of Penang state) until 1985. With the completion of Penang Bridge in 1985, the Penang Ferry Service now is an alternative way of travelling from mainland to the island of Penang. Showing at the background of the postcard is the Komtar building. It is the tallest building in Penang island.

Mexico 01

I came to know about Tere (Mexican) in the UK (1997) . Both of us went to the Reading University for our postgraduate study at that time. Tere went back to home country for Christmas holiday and she sent me this beautiful postcard from Mexico on 20 December 1997. The postcard shows El Tajin. El Tajin is a Pre-Columbian archeological site near the Panpantla city. The construction of El Tajian began about the 1st century.

Japan 01

Masao sent me this postcard showing the night view of the Minami and Kita Bisan-Seto Bridge. Masao told me that the toll charge for one-way through the bridge was 6000 Yen (in 1997)! The postcard was sent on 18 June 1997.


USA 03

This is one of the "old" postcards in my collection. Sometimes, it is warm to read the message on the postcard that was put down by the sender...... Kong is a Malaysian who graduated in 1995 and straight away stayed back in the US for work.... he lived in New York city....... At the same time, I just arrived at the UK for my postgraduate study....... Kong sent me (in the UK) this postcard from Long Island NY on 16 October 1995. Statue of Liberty is shown on the postcard..... it was a gift from the French to the Americans......

United Kingdom - England 03

Ken went to Stonehenge for a visit on 4 May 1998, and he sent me this wonderful postcard of Stonehenge from there. Stonehenge was erected around 2200BC. It was listed as one of the UNESCO World Heritage Sites in 1986.

Ecuador 01

Barbara lives in Quito, and she sent me this nice postcard from Quito, Ecuador on 3 June 2000. Quito is the capital city of Ecuador. The far background of the postcard shows Cotopaxi (with a altitude of 5937m), a stratovolcano in the Andes. What a beautiful view for the residents of Quito.

Finland 01

Leena sent me this postcard from Tampere on 8 June 1998. She has been married to the United States...... and no longer living in Tampere..... Tampere is located in between two lakes, Nasijarvi and Pyhajarvi. It is the second most important city after Helsinki in Finland.



Netherlands 02

Matthew went to Rotterdam for training in 1998, and he sent me this postcard from Rotterdam. The postal authority did not cancel the stamp/postcard therefore the date of posting is not known. Sitting at the river bank of Nieuwe Mass, Rotterdam is the second largest city in the Netherlands. It was the most busiest seaport in the world (until 2004; Shanghai has replaced Rotterdam to become the busiest seaport in the world).

I visited to Amsterdam on 22 March 1997. It was a short vocation, and I might have to say that it was pleasant trip...... and I visited to sex museum in Amsterdam! The canal system in Amsterdam is amazing, and the buildings are unique. I posted this postcard from Amsterdam on 22 March 1997.

United Kingdom - England 02

I was about to return home to Malaysia....... just a couple of weeks more in the UK....... after three and a half years staying there............ I visited to Oxford for the very last time.......... Honestly, I quite like Oxford city. It is such a peaceful and nice city. I sent this postcard to myself on 4 November 1998. The postcard shows view of central Oxford city, Old Exam School tower, Sheldonian Theatre, Radcliffe Camera and St. Mary's Church.

I was in the UK from 1995 to 1998 for my study. I took an opportunity to travel to Brighton, a coastal city located south of London. One of the attractions in Brighton is this Royal Pavilion with eastern (Indian) design. I sent this postcard to myself on 16 July 1997 from Brighton.

Indonesia 01

Kelimutu is a volcano located in the centre of Flores Island, Indonesia. There are three coloured lakes at Kelimutu, i.e. Tiwu Ata Mbupu (Lake of Old People), Tiwu Nuwa Muri Koo Fai (Lake of Young Men and Maidens) and Tiwu Ata Polo (Bewitched or Enchanted Lake). Tiwu Nuwa Muri Koo Fai and Tiwu Ata Polo are separated by a shared crater wall. All the three lakes are shown on the postcard below. Roy sent me this postcard from Indonesia on 23 April 1997. What a spectacular postcard!

Taiwan 01

Taipei city, the capital of Republic of China (Taiwan), now has a new landmark - the 101 building. The 101 building is one of the tallest buildings in the world. My mate Clement went to Taiwan with his mum for holiday last year. He asked me what I want from Taiwan, and I told him that I just want a postcard sent from Taiwan. Here you go, he sent me this postcard (showing the 101 building) from Taipei on 28 May 2007.
